PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has detected 14 cases of Covid-19 at flood evacuation centres so far.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that no new additional clusters had emerged from the evacuation centres.
Seventy-eight infectious diseases recorded yesterday were linked to flood victims, with 53 cases of acute respiratory infections, he said in his daily update yesterday.
On nationwide Covid-19 statistics, the country recorded 3,434 recoveries and 2,897 new infections.
Of the new infections, 192 were imported cases involving 178 Malaysians, while 50 were in Categories 3, 4 and 5.
Four new clusters have been identified.
The national infectivity rate (R-nought) value is currently at 0.93.
Meanwhile in Ipoh, agencies that offer umrah trips must inform those returning to the country to strictly observe the home quarantine orders, said Perak health committee chairman Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin.
“When they return home, they need to isolate themselves in a room for seven days.”
He said there had been cases where the people took their quarantine order lightly and this could cause a spread of Covid-19.
“We have received reports that some people had welcomed guests to their house and hugged them. Some even watched TV with their family in the living room.
“It really takes effort to get people to self-isolate and I do hope that those who come back from umrah have the discipline to do so,” he said after closing the state-level National Environment Day here yesterday.
