PETALING JAYA: Malaysians need to observe the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) for this festive season when celebrating with family and friends, says the Health Ministry.
In its social media platforms, the ministry shared a video of Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin urging the people to be wary in anticipation of the New Year celebrations.
"It's been a tough year for us, but things seem to be looking a little better, even with the Omicron variant.
"But I would like to urge all Malaysians once more, for the year end, I know you have a lot of plans to meet with friends and all.
“I’m not saying (to) cancel (the plans). But, stay at home if you can.
"If you really need to spend time with your friends, please be careful. Do a (Covid-19) test, get your booster (shot),” said Khairy on Thursday (Dec 30).
The ministry also reminded the people to practise TRIIS (Test, Report, Isolate, Inform and Seek), conduct self-test, follow the SOP and get their booster shot.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also took to social media to remind the people to stay vigilant, get their booster shot and stay home if possible during the festive season.
Dr Noor Hisham retweeted an old post from Aug 31, urging everyone to get vaccinated, avoid crowded and confined spaces.
“Please take all the precautionary measures to prevent yourself from getting infected. More importantly, when we gather again in time, from the headcount, no one is missing.
“Stay safe and stay home,” he said.
