JOHOR BARU: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong was given a briefing on flood handling preparedness by the party's Tebrau division chief on Friday (Dec 31).

       "I was visiting the Tebrau constituency, and was interacting with the people of Taman Puteri Wangsa here, when heavy rain began," he wrote on Facebook.

       He said Tebrau division chief Ng Yew Aik, who is also a Johor Baru councillor, had detailed how the city and other government agencies would handle the impending bout of heavy rain.

       "Rain has also been falling over Johor Baru, Yong Peng and Ayer Hitam," wrote Dr Wee, who is Ayer Hitam MP.

       "The river levels of Sungai Pandan and Sungai Bekok at Yong Peng are rising, even as rain continues.

       "We must continue to be vigilant to face any eventuality. Please pray for the safety of the Malaysian Family."
