PETALING JAYA: A joint meeting with the police and other first responders and government bodies was held to streamline duties during floods.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Razarudin Husain said the meeting was held in Bukit Aman on Thursday (Dec 30).

Among those who attended were representatives from the Health Ministry, Fire and Rescue Department, National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) and the Armed Forces.

This follows the findings of the flood task force meeting on Monday (Dec 27), which highlighted the level of readiness needed to face the second wave of floods from the north-east monsoon.

"This meeting was held to streamline duties and movement of all agencies involved during floods.

“The meeting also touched on the experience during the recent disaster, and operational suggestions (were made) to ensure the best mechanism that can be applied by all agencies in the future.

"What was discussed will also be (implemented at) state and district levels to ensure all involved agencies will be more effective and proactive during flood management," he said in a statement on Friday (Dec 31).

State police chiefs and commissioners have also been ordered to conduct similar meetings at their level.

On a related matter, Razarudin said he made a working visit to the Hulu Langat flood control centre with Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed.

"I also saw clean-up efforts at Taman Sri Nanding first hand," he said.
