KUALA LUMPUR: Sections of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway (KLK) and the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1), which were impassable due to flooding and landslides earlier, have been reopened to the public.
In a statement on Tuesday (Jan 4), concessionaire ANIH Berhad said cleaning and repair works along the KM77-KM78 stretch of KLK had been completed.
It said road users who wish to travel to Karak will no longer need to make a U-turn before the Karak toll plaza.
However, those travelling from Karak to Kuala Lumpur still have to make a U-turn at the Karak toll plaza.
“Currently, the left and right lanes leading to Kuala Lumpur from KM66 to KM70 are fully accessible to traffic.
“However, highway users are advised to adhere to safety directional signage when approaching the contra flow lane from Sungai Dua, located at KM74.8 until KM77.3, to ensure their safety and comfort,” said ANIH Berhad senior general manager Radzimah Mohd Radzi.
On Dec 18, a large group of motorists was stranded on the KLK due to landslides and rising floodwaters. Sections of the road had to be closed to traffic then.
