TOKYO -- Japan recorded over 1,000 new coronavirus infections on Jan. 4 for the first time in three months, according to figures collected by the Mainichi Shimbun.
The last time the country had over 1,000 infections in a single day was Oct. 6, 2021, when it counted 1,125 new cases.
