Those who test positive will still have to isolate for seven days and will need to register their positive results. The Prime Minister will chair a COVID-19 Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, where he will review whether current restrictions are enough to tackle the rapid spread of Omicron. The Cabinet meeting will then be followed by a Commons statement from Health Secretary Sajid Javid. On Tuesday, in an address to the nation, Mr Johnson said that anyone who believes that the battle with Covid is over is "profoundly wrong", and urged Brits to prepare for a chaotic month ahead. He said: "Our United Kingdom is in the midst of the fastest growth in Covid cases that we've ever known. "Anyone who thinks our battle with Covid is over, I'm afraid is profoundly wrong."This is a moment for the utmost caution."
