KOTA BHARU: A 28-year-old man was seriously injured after being attacked while he was sleeping with his girlfriend at a house in Kampung Bunut Rendang here.

       The victim suffered injuries to his left arm, left shoulder, the back of his body and his left ankle was almost severed in the incident at 2.20pm on Friday (Jan 7).

       Pasir Puteh OCPD Deputy Supt Ediansha Endal said the victim has been sent to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital for further treatment.

       "After receiving a distress call related to the case, a team of members was sent to the scene immediately and witnesses at the scene said they had seen a white car with tinted mirrors in front of the victim's house," he said, as reported by Sinar Harian.

       DSP Ediansha added the witnesses then saw a masked man dressed in black and wearing black gloves come out of the house while giving them a warning.

       He said the man also showed an object which was held by him which looked like a pistol and ordered the witnesses to enter their house.

       Ediansha said the man then went into the car and sat in the front passenger seat before the car left the scene, adding that witnesses were unable to identify the car registration number and any identifying marks on the vehicle.

       He also said that from speaking to the victim's girlfriend, the couple were sleeping in a room in the house before a man who was wearing a head and face mask with black gloves approached them while holding a parang in his right hand.

       "The man then proceeded to stab the victim. After that, the suspect took the victim's mobile phone and belongings before fleeing," he said.

       DSP Ediansha added the victim had 12 previous criminal records related to narcotics and property crimes.

       He also said that the victim was still wanted in connection with a burglary case involving a crime in the district where his fingerprints were found at the scene.

       He said the police were conducting further investigations into the real cause of the case.
