Highways England reported that one lane was closed going northbound after a "road traffic collision". Traffic monitor Intrix said the accident had involved a lorry and a car.

       The collision is believed to have occurred just after 7.30am this morning.

       Highways England said that as of 8.15am traffic was not moving, and that normal traffic conditions were not expected to return until at least 10.15am.

       As of 8.25am, the lane had been reopened and there were delays of 10 minutes against expected traffic.

       Highways England later revised its estimate, saying that normal traffic was expected to return by 8.30am.

       Intrix said the collision had occurred after Tibshelf Services.

       It added that all traffic had been held for around 15 minutes.

       The stretch of the major motorway sits north of Nottingham, on the way to Sheffield past Chesterfield.

       Tibsheif Services sits between the villages of Tibshief in Derbyshire and Huthwaite in Nottinghamshire.

       Junction 28 is the intersection of the M1 with the A38, while Junction 29 is the intersection with the A617 leading to Mansfield or Chesterfield.
