MELAKA: A former Melaka Scouts Council assistant executive secretary has claimed trial in the Sessions Court here to 30 counts of allegedly misappropriating the monthly rent of a building owned by the council.

       Ahmad Danial Osman, 32, pleaded not guilty before judge Elesabet Paya Wan.

       He allegedly misused RM63,400 that was paid as rent by three tenants – Iconn Resources and Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd, Golden Deluxe (M) Sdn Bhd, and Brilliant Mobile – between 2015 and 2018 for his personal use.

       The charges under Section 403 of the Penal Code carry a jail term of up to five years and whipping, and also a fine, upon conviction.

       The court set bail at RM10,000 and ordered the accused to report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission every month until the hearing ends.
