IPOH: There are no signs of a missing nine-year-old Orang Asli girl who had gone into the Temenggor Forest in Gerik with her family six days ago.

A search operation is being carried out a day after her family lodged a police report on Friday (Jan 14).

Gerik OCPD Supt Zulkifli Mahmood said the family of Kamaliah Anab realised that she was not with them when they returned back to their house in Kampung Selao in Gerik on Thursday (Jan 13).

He said Kamaliah, who has curly hair, was last seen wearing a yellow top and blue pants.

“The missing girl had gone to search for forest products with her family and her friend, and when they reached home later at night, they realised the girl was missing.

“The family, together with villagers, helped search for her within the radius but to no avail.

“The next day, a police report was lodged at the Bersia station, and the Fire and Rescue department was alerted, and a search and rescue operation commenced.

Supt Zulkifli added the operation consisted of 76 personnel from the police, senoi praaq, Fire and Rescue Department, Perak Wildlife Department, Orang Asli Development Department (Jakoa), and members of the public.

The search for the victim is continuing,” he said.
