KOTA KINABALU: Police arrested three women suspected of peddling syabu in Sabah's east coast Tawau.
Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Peter Umbuas said that they also seized 1.18kg of syabu from the three women aged 28, 35 and 44.
"The women - two locals and a Filipino - were arrested by when police stopped their car at Bandar Sabindo while conducting Ops Tapis in Tawau town area at about noon on Monday (Jan 17)," he said on Thursday (Jan 20).
One of the suspects has also tested positive for drug use.
He said the drugs had a street value of about RM36,000 and could be used by at least 5,000 addicts.
The case is being investigated for drug trafficking under Section 39 (B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the suspects have been remanded for seven days.
