JOHOR BARU: Johor Pakatan Harapan is in discussion to form a working relationship with Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) for snap polls in the state.

State Opposition leader Aminolhuda Hassan - who is also the Johor Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and Pakatan chairman - said that the discussion would also include seat allocation with Muda as well.

“The result of the ongoing discussion will be made known very soon,” he said here on Saturday (Jan 22).

The Parit Yaani assemblyman said Pakatan would be banking on their 22-month track record as the state government in their campaigning during the snap polls.

“Hopefully, the rakyat can see what Pakatan was able to do in a short period of time, which is better than what Umno has done when they were the government for more than 60 years,” he said.

The Umno-led government has a simple majority with 28 seats against Pakatan Harapan’s 27 as one seat was left vacant after the passing of former mentri besar and Kempas assemblyman Datuk Osman Sapian on Dec 21.

Currently, the state government consists of Umno (14), MIC (two), PAS (one) and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (11) while the opposition comprises DAP (14), Amanah (six) and PKR (seven).
