JOHOR BARU: An Umno vice president has questioned the rationale behind PAS’s demand to contest all the seats that Barisan Nasional lost in Johor.

Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said during the 14th General Election, PAS also contested the seats Barisan lost.

“PAS said they want all our lost seats, not just the four offered by Barisan.

“But I recall that overall, PAS lost to Barisan – so what is the logic behind their demand for those seats,” he tweeted at 2.24pm on Tuesday (Jan 25).

Mohamed Khaled was responding to a news portal that reported PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man as saying that the party wanted to contest all the seats lost by Barisan, especially those where Amanah contested.

Johor has 56 state seats in total.

He said the four seats offered by Johor Umno chief Datuk Hasni Mohammad in the upcoming Johor polls was not “a good way” (bukan cara baik).

Tuan Ibrahim, who is also Environment and Water Minister, added their demand was to strengthen and unite the ummah in Johor to ensure Pakatan Harapan does not come back into power in the state.

A news portal reported that in a recent Umno division meeting, Hasni revealed that Umno had offered PAS four seats but the offer was rejected.

He did not state the names of the constituencies.

Hasni said the offer was discussed during a meeting with PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man before this.
