His home flooded in the early hours of Sunday morning, ruining almost everything he owns - and the damage is going to take six months to fix.
William had been staying at a friend's after a night out, when he was
woken up by his neighbour calling him at 4.30am to tell him there was 4ft of water at his back door.
The 23-year-old told Manchester Evening News: "At first I thought something had happened in the house.
"When I got home there was about 3ft of water in my living room and kitchen.
"The water had gone in the back door, through my house and gone out of the front door.
"Everything downstairs has been ruined, the skirting boards have been ripped off, my sofas were floating, all the furniture is gone and my log burner is damaged."

William was told by a building contractor that there was £10,000 worth of damage to his home.
He'll have to rip the floor out, re-concrete and put new carpets and underlay down, replace the electrics and buy all new furniture.
He added: "Pretty much everything has been ruined.
"Lucky the water only went up 3 stairs on the steps so upstairs is fine.
"I've been left with a bed and wardrobe full of clothes, that's all."
The property has been deemed safe for William to stay there, however, he has no electricity or WiFi - and is having to use a hotspot to access the internet.
Two sentimental items left to William by family members were luckily
been saved from the flood - but everything else downstairs has been ruined.
William said: "I don't know what I would have done if I was here by myself, I would have been trapped inside."
At the weekend, he says four houses out of the row of 10 were hit by floodwater.
FLOODY HELL
William said: "A lot of the damage will come out my pocket, I'm going to have to do a lot of overtime to pay for it.
"I will need to get flood gates put on, which means my drive will have to be done and I will have to get the garden landscaped so the walls are stable enough to stop the water.
"The outside will cost another £10,000, I'm hoping the insurance company will help cover the costs of inside."
William had just finished painting last Saturday, for it all to be
ruined one week later - his neighbour, whose home also flooded, had just fitted a new kitchen.
He added: "I had bought nice expensive things, for it all to be damaged.
"I will be living like this for about six months as it's going to be a
huge construction job.
"The reason I bought this home was because there was no work needed doing, it was ready to live in."
