Students told to stay away after ‘incident’ at university as police and forensics team swoop on Bournemouth campus

       STUDENTS have been told to stay away from a university campus in wake of an "incident" this morning as forensic teams rushed to the scene.

       A large police presence remains outside the AECC University College in the Boscombe area of Bournemouth.

       The specialist university situated on Parkwood Road confirmed an incident had taken place on campus today, although the nature of it remains unknown.

       In a mass email, students were urged to stay away until they were provided with further updates on the ongoing situation.

       According to Dorset Live, locals said there are "lots of police" in the area and "nearly the whole road" has been closed.

       A nearby property is also said to have been cordoned off and numerous nearby streets have been shut.

       Mysterious red marks were spotted on the walls of one of the cordoned off buildings.

       The AECC college assured staff and students "there is no risk to those on site".

       Those onsite were told they could stay to study and work but others were warned to stay home until more information was provided.

       They wrote In an email: "There has been an incident on campus today.

       "Please note: No teaching will be taking place in the Main Building and Cavendish House this morning until noon.

       "The main car park has been closed. If you are onsite, you may stay to study and work - offices and the library will remain open.

       "If you have not yet set off for classes or work we advise you to stay at home until we update the situation. We will update you again at 11am."

       The university earlier sent another email out apologising for the disruption.

       It said: "Many thanks for your co-operation with today's changes to teaching.

       "We would like to reassure you that even though we have had to stop teaching this morning, there is no risk to those on site.

       "Campus is safe and the library and offices remain open for study and work."
