UK weather: The latest Met Office forecast
Flood alerts have been issued as Britain braces for two storms to hit this week bringing heavy rain, gale force winds and a chance of snow.
Weather officials have put in place 11 flood alerts which could affect residents in several regions across the country.
Residents are being warned to prepare for the possibility of flooding in areas covered by the alerts.
Storm Dudley is expected to hit northern parts of the UK on Wednesday and Thursday before Storm Eunice arrives on Friday.
Amber and yellow wind warnings are in place for northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland from 3pm on Wednesday until 9am on Thursday.
A yellow warning will also cover the southern part of Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland on Friday until 9pm.
Met Office meteorologist Tom Morgan, said: “This whole week is going to see quite a disturbed weather pattern developing across the UK”.
He said western parts of Scotland will “bear the brunt” of the strongest winds which could cause “widespread disruption.”

The UK will face a cloudy and wet evening with outbreaks of rain which will clear north-eastwards on Wednesday.
It will then be mostly dry overnight with long clear spells however there will be variable amounts of patchy cloud and a chance of showers, mostly across western areas, according to the private weather forecasting organisation.

Scotland braces for yet another bout of powerful storms after thousands of homes were left without power due to severe winds last month.
Storm Corrie brought winds of more than 90mph to areas such as Inverbervie. It hit a peak on 31 January after Storm Malik, which tore down trees, damaged power lines, ripped roofs off homes in northern England and Scotland on Saturday.
Due to the strong forces, almost 40,000 properties in Scotland had their electricity supply disrupted after the two storms came within 48 hours of each other.

Storm Dudley is expected to hit northern parts on Wednesday and Thursday before Storm Eunice arrives on Friday.
Much of North East England, including Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Sunderland, is covered by an amber warning for wind on Wednesday, the second most severe alert issued by the Met Office.
Swathes of North West England, including Manchester and Liverpool, are covered by a yellow warning for wind on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Potentially heavy rain will hit the South West on Wednesday but strong winds are set to follow by the end of the week.
Although not affected by Met Office warnings initially, showery rain will move across southern England on Wednesday afternoon.

The deputy first minister John Swinney has warned Scots the coming days will be “very challenging” as a result of two storms.
“We expect another period of disruption this week, with Storms Dudley and Eunice set to bring strong winds to Scotland,” he said.
“High winds may cause issues on roads and bridges, disruption to power supplies and danger from falling trees. We would urge everyone to plan their journeys in advance, exercise caution on the roads, and follow the latest travel advice,” the minister added.
The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning active from 4 pm on Wednesday across central and south Scotland and the north of England, with gusts potentially hitting 90 miles per hour.

A massive wind turbine has been blown over in south Wales valley as the UK braces for two dangerous storms.
The 300ft turbine worth £20m snapped apart and crashed into the valley below on Monday near Bridgend.
“Apparently it was creaking and banging all night before it collapsed and one woman thought it was her neighbour’s tumble dryer,” Lydia Stephens told The Guardian.

Strong winds of up to 90mph brought by Storm Dudley could put lives at risk, forecasters have warned.
The Met Office has issued an amber warning for “very strong” winds on Wednesday which could cause widespread chaos, including a “good chance” of power cuts and disruption to transport services.
The warning says: “Injuries and danger to life is likely from large waves and beach material being thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and properties.”
The warning is in place from 4pm until midnight and covers a large belt across the middle of the UK, including regions north of Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire and south of Perthshire in Scotland.
Forecasters have said residents in this region can also expect heavy showers throughout the afternoon and snow on high ground.

In a Met Office daily forecast video, meteorologist Alex Deakin has warned people in affected areas to brace for “heavy rain and ever-strengthening winds”.
“It’s going to be a windy day throughout with those winds continuing to pick up through the afternoon and the evening,” he said.
“There will be some snow on the hills across Scotland, but it’s the rain and more particularly the wind we’re concerned about in this storm system on Wednesday.
“It’s likely to cause transport disruption and dangerous conditions by the sea.”

Some ferry services in Scotland are being cancelled as Storm Dudley threatens to bring huge waves.
Ferry operator CalMac is anticipating waves of up to 12 metres (39ft) around the Hebrides – the height of three-storey buildings.
Manging director Robbie Drummond told the BBC there would be no sailings later tomorrow, adding the company is adjusting its timetable.
He said: “Our team will be working closely with local communities to understand their priorities and also ensure essential goods and services are moved where possible.”
