MERSING: Each Perikatan Nasional candidate would have to take an anti-corruption oath, similar to candidates for the Melaka election, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
The Gambir incumbent assemblyman and Pagoh MP said that Perikatan was offering a clean government to the people in Johor if the coalition wins the state election.
He said that Johor is no longer an Umno stronghold as they were defeated in the last general election.
“Johor is known as Umno’s fortress but I would like to remind them that they lost the state in GE14,” said Muhyidin, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president and Perikatan chairman.
He said this in his speech during the launch of the Mersing Perikatan election machinery at Felda Tenggaroh here on Wednesday (Feb 16) night.
“I will not be defending my seat as I am focussed at the Federal level but I promised that I would help the (possible) Perikatan mentri besar as an economic advisor to the state,” he added.
Nominations for the Johor state election is on Feb 26 and polling is on March 12.
