KOTA KINABALU: Several videos of a woman who stole a black four-wheel drive parked in front of a building before she was involved in Monday’s high-speed chase with city police have emerged.
The viral videos from a Facebook page showed the suspect cleaning the vehicle’s floor mats before driving off. The vehicle owner had reported the car missing on Saturday.
Kota Kinabalu City deputy police chief Supt George Rakman said the videos would be used in their investigations.
Police would also take statements from the person who shared the videos, he added.
Police are also trying to determine how the 35-year-old woman had obtained the car keys before driving the vehicle away.
The woman, who was caught on Monday following the high-speed chase with the police, has been remanded until Feb 21.
The woman, suspected to be on drugs, rammed several vehicles and a police roadblock with the stolen pickup truck to escape arrest.
Police shot the vehicle’s tyres to stop her from causing more damage.
To date, only two car owners whose vehicles were damaged in the rampage have reported the incident to police.
