       1. Vladimir Putin could drag out Ukraine crisis for months, says Liz Truss

       Russia is preparing to "test the mettle" of the West by dragging out the stand-off at the Ukrainian border for months, Liz Truss has warned.

       2. Don’t promote Black Lives Matter to pupils, says new guidance for schools

       Teachers have been forbidden from promoting Black Lives Matter to children as part of a crackdown on politics in the classroom.

       Schools must ensure that any "contentious and disputed" historic periods such as the British Empire and imperialism are taught in a "balanced" manner, according to guidance published by the Department for Education (DfE) on Thursday. Read the full story.

       3. Britons didn’t know what they were doing when they backed Brexit, says European Parliament

       UK voters did not understand what they were voting for when they backed Brexit in 2016, the European Parliament said on Wednesday.

       In a report on the Article 50 process, which allows members to leave, MEPs suggested they could have swung the vote for Remain if they had campaigned and warned the "often misled" British voters of the risks of leaving. Read the full story.

       4. Five to 11-year-olds in England offered Covid jabs on ‘non-urgent’ basis

       Covid vaccines are to be offered to six million children aged five to 11 from April – but ministers have said the decision is up to parents.

       The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) on Wednesday confirmed it had given the green light to the rollout of jabs for young children. It will begin in April, with children offered two jabs 12 weeks apart on a "non-urgent" basis. Read the full story.

       5. Smart meters threaten to interfere with nuclear missile warning system

       Nuclear missile early warning systems are at risk of interference from the roll out of smart meters, forcing energy bosses to halt installations across parts of Yorkshire, The Telegraph can reveal.
