MERSING: Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has offered himself as an economic adviser to Johor if his coalition is voted in as the state government.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president said Perikatan’s agenda is to make Johor “the most glorious state” whose people are developed and respected.
“I will help the state. Who will be Perikatan’s Mentri Besar? No matter who, he will be the most qualified and I can become the economic adviser.
“We have a big agenda for the people, which is why in this state election, our slogan is ‘Demi Bangsa Johor’, and Perikatan will double its efforts to help the people,” he said in his speech at the launch of the Mersing Perikatan machinery at Felda Tenggaroh here on Wednesday night.
Muhyiddin, who is the National Recovery Council chairman, said the coalition wanted to improve the living standards of youths by creating employment opportunities, as well as empowering women’s contribution to the national economy.
On the state polls, Muhyiddin, who will not be defending his Gambir seat, said Perikatan would offer a clean administration to the people of Johor.
The Pagoh MP added that each Perikatan candidate would have to take an oath against corruption, which was the same procedure for candidates who contested in the Melaka election.
He said Umno could no longer claim Johor as its fortress as it suffered a defeat in the 14th General Election in 2018.
