PETALING JAYA: Greater integrity among civil servants in the country would not only lead to them serving the people more effectively, but would also reduce wastage through corrupt practices, says the Administrative and Diplomatic Officers’ Alumni Association (Alumni PTD).

Its president Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali said the association was ready to work with public service leaders to combat internal corruption and improve services.

“We welcome and support the mandate by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali urging civil servants to reinforce their level of integrity to curb corruption, besides improving efficiency and effectiveness in fulfilling the needs and aspirations of the people.

“Alumni PTD thinks the message is timely given that lately, corruption within the civil service has received extensive coverage locally and abroad.

“The matter deserves to be addressed immediately to preserve the image of the Malaysian civil service and the country.

“In line with the National Anti-Corruption Plan, more drastic actions should be taken to ensure efforts to restore the economy of the country affected by the Covid-19 pandemic can run smoothly and without wastage caused by acts of corruption.

“In this context, Alumni PTD is willing to work closely together with public service leaders to intensify efforts to enhance integrity and combat internal corruption within public services,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
