Two children, described as “very young,” were shot Monday night in Annapolis, police said.

       The children were outside playing when gunfire broke out, according to a police official.

       The shooting occurred about 7:10 p.m. in the 1300 block of Tyler Avenue, police said.

       The children were taken to hospitals, police said.

       Their conditions and their exact ages were not immediately available.

       The site is a residential area about one mile southwest of the Maryland State House.
