KOTA KINABALU: There has been an increase in hospital admissions of Covid-19 patients in Sabah but the situation is not as worrying as in the early days of the pandemic, says Sabah Health Department director Datuk Dr Rose Nani Mudin.
“This is because patients were experiencing milder symptoms this time,” she said.
Thus, she said, the situation was still manageable with health staff being able to go on duty on a rotation basis with enough time off.
“We are coping well with the current Covid-19 situation in Sabah because there are fewer severe cases and manageable intensive care admissions,” Dr Rose said.
Based on Monday’s statistics from the state Covid-19 management committee, about 99% of the 4,770 new cases recorded were in Categories One and Two.
Six cases were classified in Category Four and one in Category Five.
Covid-19 bed usage is at 61%, comprising 2,202 units at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres, 1,876 in hospitals, 446 in temporary detention centres, and 28 in private hospitals.
