PETALING JAYA: Nooryana Najwa Najib (pic) has confirmed that she did try to apply for a job at Goldman Sachs.

       The daughter of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said she once met two former Goldman Sachs employees, Roger Ng and Tim Leissner as part of her networking efforts to land a "competitive job".

       "However I was told it would be a conflict of interest because the investment bank was doing business with the Malaysian government," said Nooryana in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Feb 23).

       "I was keen on Goldman Sachs as I wanted a role involving finance and government since I studied international politics and foreign politics at university.

       Following this, Nooryana said Leissner introduced her to TPG, a private equity firm.

       "I interviewed for an intern analyst position at the TPG London office, which means I am at the bottom of the food chain, where besides your core job scope, you're also responsible for the spadework. You’re the PowerPoint girl, the photocopying girl, the coffee girl and the delivery girl just to name a few,” she said.

       Nooryana said she worked 11 months to focus on her own business and further studies.

       Leissner on Feb 22 told the New York Eastern District Court that he was informed by Jho Low that Najib wanted his three children to be given jobs at Goldman Sachs.

       He said he received Nooryana's CV and later helped her get a job with TPG.

       However, Najib clarified on Wednesday (Feb 23) that none of his children was offered jobs by Goldman Sachs.

       Leissner is the star witness in the trial against his subordinate Roger Ng, who is accused of money laundering and breaching laws in relation to the 1MDB affair.
