On June 19, 1961, Kuwait gained independence, putting an end to the Anglo-Kuwaiti Agreement of 1899. This was followed by a decree on May 18, 1961 to conjoin the National Day and the ascension of the Amir celebration into one event commemorated every year on February 25th. On the occasion of Kuwait’s National and Liberation Day holiday, the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Center (ASCC) is thrilled to celebrate this special occasion with a wonderful variety of entertaining events, shows and fun and educational activities. The events, workshops and activities will take place inside the museums’ buildings and outdoor areas starting on Thursday, February 24, 2022 until Saturday, March 5, 2022. As the national champion of every and all sciences, one of ASCC’s main events is its assortment of competitions that aim to fuel children as well as adults’ minds, passions and interests. “Kalemat for the Love of Kuwait” is a competition that gives people between the ages of 13 and 17 the chance to write a 250-300 word poem in Arabic or English that expresses their love for Kuwait.
