A COUPLE from Kampung Marang, Terengganu, had to brave through 0.5m-deep waters for their wedding ceremony at a nearby mosque.

Zaleha Ahamad, 25, and her husband, Sayed Khalil Khusairi Tuan Hamzah, 26, had to wade through floodwaters to attend the marriage ceremony that was held at a mosque in the village located about 3km from the bride’s house.

According to Zaleha, the wedding ceremony was supposed to have been held at her family’s house but due to the floods, it had to be moved to the mosque.

“Although the initial plan had to be changed, we are thankful the ceremony went smoothly and we are now officially husband and wife.

“It’s sad when there are events that have to be cancelled, including the bersanding ceremony, but it will be a beautiful memory for us,” she told Harian Metro.

Zaleha said the wedding ceremony had been planned about a month ago, but she did not expect floods.

She said she was thankful that the ceremony went smoothly even though her house and her husband’s residence in Kampung Syukur, Dungun, were flooded.

Syatilla’s husband, actor Shaheizy Sam, said his wife was fine and has not experienced any severe symptoms despite being pregnant.

“Alhamdulillah, my wife is fine and undergoing self-quarantine in a separate room on the top floor of the house,” he said.

He added that Syatilla performed a Covid-19 self-test after her manager tested positive.
