GEORGE TOWN: Race Day at the Penang Turf Club on Sunday (March 6) will be cancelled after more than 10 Covid-19 cases were detected here.

       Similarly, off-course races over the weekend will also be called off.

       "We have detected over 10 cases involving Covid-19 positive and close contact cases in various departments," said a Penang Turf Club spokesman.

       "A Covid-19 positive was detected at a stable last week and another this week at the same stable.

       "Hence, we took the decision to stop all races and sanitised the area.

       "We have about 160 staff who are now working on alternate days," said the spokesman in a statement on Monday (Feb 28).

       Off-course races are held on every Saturday and Sunday, limited to 500 racing fans who are fully vaccinated.
