KUALA LUMPUR: Police have crippled a drug syndicate that used a condominium to store drugs following raids here last week.

Bukit Aman Narcotic Criminal Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the two raids were conducted at around 7.15pm on Tuesday (Feb 22), which led to the arrest of a local man and a Vietnamese woman.

"Our team also seized 260.85kg of syabu worth RM9.39mil. It is believed that the suspects were lovers and have been active since the end of last year," he told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters on Monday (Feb 28).

"We believe the drugs were brought in from up north and were smuggled to Sabah and Sarawak," he added, saying that checks revealed the male suspect had a prior criminal record for drugs.

He said the urine tests on the couple were positive for drugs.

"Both suspects have been remanded for seven days.

"We have also seized RM120,000 cash under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988," he said.

Those with information on criminal activities are urged to contact the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department at 012-2087 222.
