Total of 75 Malaysian students relocated due to Queensland floods, says Saifuddin

       PETALING JAYA: A total of 75 Malaysian students have been relocated to temporary housing at the University of Queensland due to floods in the Australian state, says Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.

       The Foreign Minister also said that another 35 are currently being relocated.

       In tweet on Monday (Feb 28), he said that there are currently 348 Malaysians in Queensland, including 200 students.

       The Foreign Affairs Ministry in a statement on Sunday (Feb 27) advised Malaysians in Queensland to remain vigilant and follow instructions from by local authorities.

       "The Foreign Affairs Ministry through the Malaysian High Commission in Canberra, Australia is closely monitoring the situation of Malaysians in Queensland following heavy rains that have hit the region since February 25.

       "Malaysians in the affected areas and in need of consular assistance are advised to contact the Malaysian High Commission in Canberra directly by telephone or email," it read.
