JOHOR BARU: Johor police will be working closely with their Singapore counterparts to investigate complaints on fraudulent sale of bus tickets for the Vaccinated Travel Land (VTL-Land).
State police chief said police Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said police received a report over the case on Tuesday (March 1) at 10.54am.
“The bus tickets for the VTL-Land journey are being offered to Malaysians working in Singapore,’’ he said in a statement.
Comm Kamarul said unsuspected buyers end up buying the tickets online and on Facebook.
He said Johor police would conduct thorough investigation on cheating cases involving the sale of VTL-Land bus tickets and would get more details from the Singapore police.
Malaysian-Singapore Workers Task Force (Pemas) president S. Dayalan alleged hundreds of Malaysians working in the republic were cheated by the syndicate selling bus tickets.
He said the price of the ticket at SG$15 (RM46) was increased to between SG$100 (RM309) and SG$200 (RM618) each.
Dayalan said despite paying for the tickets, the buyers’ names were not on the list allowed to leave Singapore.
