PETALING JAYA: The Covid-19 death rate in Malaysia is on the rise, says Khairy Jamaluddin (pic).
The Health Minister, however, said it was comparatively lower than the Delta wave we experienced.
"The vaccine is effective and protects us from the serious effects of Covid-19 which can otherwise result in needing to be placed in the intensive care unit or causing death," he tweeted on Thursday (March 3) morning.
Khairy shared a graph which stated that the current Covid-19 case fatality rate (CFR) was at 0.2%.
The graph showed an earlier dip in the death rate in February this year.
Khairy then shared a chart showing the number of deaths between Feb 17 and March 2, indicating that those who were not vaccinated had a much higher chance of succumbing to the virus than those who were fully vaccinated or had further received their booster dose.
"This is why our strategy right now is to protect those who are at high risk like the elderly.
"Based on the chart, it is clear that those who have received the vaccine and booster jab will help protect them from succumbing to the virus," he said.
Kadar kematian akibat COVID-19 mula meningkat. Namun, ia dilihat lebih rendah berbanding dengan gelombang Delta yang lepas.
