JOHOR BARU: Datuk Seri Najib Razak says he is willing to participate in a debate on the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) – but only with Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

       Najib said Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who issued the challenge, could assist Muhyiddin with facts while the two former prime ministers duke it out verbally.

       “I have no problems debating about Felda but I don’t want to debate Azmin alone as I’m worried that I may not recognise him on stage if it is not in HD (high definition).

       “I will debate his boss, Muhyiddin and Azmin can help him during the debate.

       “No problems with one against two, because facts are facts and in the end, facts will win,” said Najib in a Facebook post on Sunday (March 6).

       Najib was making an inference to a sex video scandal purportedly involving Azmin in July 2019.

       In January 2020, then-attorney general Tan Sri Tommy Thomas said no charges would be filed against any individuals in the sex tape because no one in the video could be positively identified.

       In the same post, Najib “leaked” several questions to Azmin regarding Felda.

       “Was the former Barisan Nasional government ready to channel allocations and funds to Felda settlers to ensure their welfare was taken care of when I was prime minister?” he questioned.

       Najib also questioned whether Muhyiddin and the Perikatan government had increased the price of palm oil.

       Najib, who is also Barisan advisory board chairman, said he had many “revelations” to make to answer allegations from Azmin and Muhyiddin during their speeches at Felda areas.

       “Stop lying to Felda settlers and the people. Let’s debate, Muhyiddin. Don’t worry, Azmin will help you.”

       “If Muhyiddin wants to debate, he can also ask about 1MDB’s debts and I will prove once again that it did not utilise public funds,” said Najib.

       Azmin, the International Trade and Industries Minister, had challenged Najib to the debate during a Perikatan ceramah at Sungai Balang on Saturday (March 5) night.

       Azmin also claimed that Felda was destroyed during Najib’s tenure as premier.
