KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's new Covid-19 cases continued on a declining trend with 1,515 cases recorded on Sunday (March 6), down 263 from 1,778 the day before.
Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said Kota Kinabalu remained the main contributor to new infections with 479 cases, followed by Tuaran (133) and Penampang (103).
He said other districts only recorded new double-digit cases except for Semporna, Kunak and Kalabakan which recorded single-digit cases.
However, he said there is an increase in new cases in 10 districts with Tambunan recording the highest increase of 25 cases.
"Apart from Penampang which recorded the highest decrease with 103 cases, Beaufort also recorded a significant decrease with a reduction of 54 cases compared to yesterday," he said in a statement.
Masidi reiterated that the public should not let their guard down and continue to comply with all standard operating procedures (SOPs) in place.
"The downward trend can quickly turn around, not to mention taking into account the percentage of sporadic infections remains high, which is 62.71 per cent of all cases today," he said, adding that the current trend can only be maintained if the public continues to be vigilant.
Masidi said 1,498 or 98.88% of the 1,515 cases Sunday were under Category 1 and 2, five cases in Category 3, seven cases in Category 4 and five cases in Category 5.
