JOHOR BAHRU: As campaigning passes its midway point, PKR's candidate for Layang-Layang Dr Maszlee Malik has appealed to locals in Bahasa Tamil to vote and not be afraid of Covid-19 on polling day.
The 20-second clip was uploaded on Maszlee's Facebook and there were Bahasa Malaysia subtitles accompanying his message in Tamil.
"Don't forget to vote and don't be afraid of Covid-19. SOPs have been set and I'm Maszlee, candidate for N27 Layang-Layang. Vanakam," he was heard saying in the video.
There were also Bollywood sound effects and he also wore a pair of aviator glasses, as it was believed that he was paying homage to Sivaji The Boss.
"I'm not like a boss like Sivaji, but I want all of you to come out and vote on March 12.
"I understand that many people are worried of Covid-19 but we have prepared SOPs for voting and don't waste this opportunity to elect a leader. Be brave, come out and vote," added Maszlee.
Maszlee is up in a four-cornered fight against Barisan Nasional's Abdul Mutalib Abd Rahim, Perikatan Nasional's K Alagathiran and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) Ahmad Shafiq Othaman.
