KLUANG: With polling day for the Johor election just days away, Perikatan Nasional’s candidate for Paloh, V. Selvendran is making sure he keeps himself healthy in the final push for votes.
The 44-year-old, who is the state PAS Supporters Assembly chief, said at this critical period in the polls, he could not afford to fall sick and have his campaign affected, especially in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. To remain Covid-free, Selvendran has been adhering to the standard operating procedures set by the Election Commission besides taking his daily dose of vitamins.
“I have been testing myself for Covid-19 regularly as my busy campaign schedule means that I meet many people in Paloh. I’ve been taking a lot of supplements such as vitamins to boost my immune system and drinking water and isotonic drinks. I also bring my hand sanitiser during the campaign trail. I’m watching my diet by eating healthily or in moderation as part of my efforts to keep fit during the campaign,” he added.
Selvendran said his campaign has been smooth so far, adding that public response in Paloh was positive.
“Although I am contesting under the Perikatan banner, I am representing PAS and the people in Paloh give me good feedback. They greet me and my team with open arms.
“Hopefully, this will continue until polling day,” he said here yesterday.
Selvendran is in a four-cornered fight against Barisan Nasional’s Lee Ting Han, Parti Pejuang Tanah Air’s (Pejuang) Aminuddin Johari and Pakatan Harapan’s Sheikh Omar Ali Baghraib Ali, who is the incumbent for the Paloh state seat.
