KOTA KINABALU: The Covid-19 situation has yet to stabilise although the number of daily cases is going down, says Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
The state Covid-19 spokesman said Sabah recorded 1,216 new cases on Tuesday (March 8), which was a marginal drop of 19 cases from Monday (March 7).
"It does not necessarily show that Sabah is entering a more stable phase," he said.
Masidi said only 12 out of 27 districts in the state have recorded a decrease in new cases but there are increases in the other 15 districts.
"The percentage of total symptomatic cases due to sporadic infections among the community also remains high at 64.06%. This is almost two-thirds of the number of new cases in Sabah," he pointed out.
Masidi also said that 31 clusters remain active with seven clusters, including six educational institution clusters, ending on Tuesday (March 8).
The clusters are Jalan Pertukangan and Sungai Batang Batu 10 (Sandakan), Teritipan (Kota Marudu), Lorong Api-Api (Kota Kinabalu), Jalan Sri Balung (Tawau), and Jalan Pendidikan Ranau (Ranau).
Another cluster that ended was the high-risk Montenior (in Beaufort).
There were 284 cases here, Penampang (137) and Papar (110).
Nineteen other districts recorded double-digit cases and three districts recorded new single-digit cases. The Kunak and Tongod districts did not record any new cases.
A total of 1,199 or 98.6% of the 1,216 new cases on Tuesday (March 8) were in Categories 1 and 2, Category 3 (three), Category 4 (11) and Category 5 (three).
