PETALING JAYA: There are redundant government agencies being set up with highly paid officers whose salaries are kept a secret, claims Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The former premier said it seems that the government created these specific bodies even though there was already an existing government body for it.
“These bodies are being set up and from what I know, without any parliamentary approval. They have officers given high salaries which are being kept a secret,” he said during his debate on the motion of thanks on the royal address in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (March 7).
Dr Mahathir claimed that the setting up of these bodies are not referred to the law.
“These laws were ignored. This is what happens when the government does not abide by the law. This will ruin the country,” he said.
Dr Mahathir said the country has laws to ensure that the governance of the country will run smoothly.
“They must follow the rule of law,” he said.
