PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur City Hall's (DBKL) Integrated Transport Information System (Itis) announced that the 9.7km Smart Tunnel is closed fully for flood operations.
Itis also reported that floodwaters were also detected in front of the Tabung Haji building and Jalan Chan Sow Lin as of 4pm on Monday (March 7).
It raised alerts for Jalan Pudu, Jalan Sri Permaisuri, Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Pahang as of 3.50pm on Monday (March 7).
Meanwhile, a video is circulating online showing cars being trapped in water in Jalan Kuchai Lama, which was believed to be from the New Pantai Expressway heading towards Sungai Besi.
Another video showed floods in Pudu although vehicles were still able to pass through.
But another video, presumably showing another part of Pudu, showed a police car stuck in the water.
An 18-second clip on Facebook showed Jalan Tun HS Lee showing rising flood water with a person trying to move his motorcycle while a car was stuck.
Netizens also took to social media to highlight their plight, where vehicles that were parked near Wisma UOA 2, Kuala Lumpur were submerged.
Mayor Datuk Seri Mahadi Che Ngah, when contacted, said DBKL was monitoring the situation but was awaiting feedback from the Irrigation and Drainage Department.
At Taman Buana, Petaling Jaya, water was seen rising until the porches of the housing area.
Several cars that were parked outside the houses had their wheels fully submerged.
Meanwhile, the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) received reports of floods and landslides at several areas under its administration, with the affected areas including Kampung Tengah in Puchong, Kampung Baru Seri Kembangan, Taman Kinrara 1, Taman Kinrara 4 and Puncak Jalil 8, in Seri Kembangan.
The council has sent its Emergency Response Team (Pantas) squad to investigate and render assistance.
