IPOH: A 17-year-old girl was killed while her younger brother was seriously injured after the motorcycle they were on grazed a lorry and fell over at Jalan Slim Village near Kampung Rasau in Slim River.

       Muallim OCPD Superintendant Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said Nurul Nazira Hanum Ismail died on the spot while Muhammad Khairul Rezeal Ismail, 15, broke his left leg during the 11.30am incident on Wednesday (March 9).

       Supt Sulizmie Affendy said the teenage boy, who was riding in front, had tried to overtake a lorry prior to the incident.

       "While trying to avoid a vehicle that was coming from the opposite direction, he tried to swerve back into his lane.

       "The motorcycle then grazed the lorry before falling on the road," he said.

       "The 34-year-old lorry driver was unharmed," he added.

       Supt Sulizmie Affendy said the deceased was brought to Hospital Slim River for a post mortem.

       The case, he said, would be investigated under section 41(1) of the Road Transportation Act.
