KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is expected to come out with its own standard operating procedures (SOP) with the country reopening its borders on April 1, says Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic).
The state Covid-19 spokesman said that they were waiting for the detailed SOPs from the Federal Government before the state Covid-19 Disaster management committee discusses and adjusts the SOPs for opening borders.
He said there was a need to look into the aspects of reopening borders by taking account many foreigners arriving via sea route to Sabah from neighbouring Indonesia and the Philippines.
"We want to ensure that all foreigners coming to Sabah are fully vaccinated with boosters.
"We wait for the national SOP to be announced before we make necessary adjustments," he said in a statement on Tuesday (March 8) after Prime Minister announced the re-opening of the national borders from April 1.
Sabah daily cases spiked to over 5,000 in mid-February but have since seen a downtrend.
Masidi said that community spread of the virus continues to remain the main contributor for the new cases in the state.
He said that the Covid-19 situation has yet to stabilise though the daily numbers were declining.
