Transport Ministry: Daily VTL-Land quota with Singapore to increase from March 14

PETALING JAYA: The daily passenger quota under the Vaccinated Travel Lane for land crossing (VTL-Land) initiative with Singapore will be increased from 2,160 to 3,420 people starting Monday (March 14), says the Transport Ministry.

In a statement, it said this would allow even more fully vaccinated people to travel across the Causeway without being subject to quarantine and other related requirements.

This announcement follows the previous increase of capacities from 50% to 100% on Feb 16, 2022.

The sale of bus tickets for the additional daily quota will begin on Friday (March 11) for travel from Monday onwards.

Malaysia’s designated bus operator will continue to operate the VTL-Land to Singapore from the Larkin Terminal in Johor Baru.

“Passengers will still be subject to existing VTL Land travel requirements including the pre-departure (PDT) tests and on-arrival tests (OAT),” it said in a statement.

While Malaysia’s transition into the endemic phase will begin on April 1 with several relaxations of travel protocols, the VTL Land agreement with Singapore remains in effect as a bilateral agreement between both governments will continue to ensure better safety for land travel to and from the Causeway, it said.

“This arrangement is being jointly reviewed by the respective authorities of both countries ahead of any future announcements,” it added.
