PETALING JAYA: One of the victims in Thursday's (March 10) landslide at Taman Bukit Permai in Ampang was an employee of an appointed contractor, and not a Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd worker as reported earlier.
Air Selangor corporate communications chief Elina Baseri said in a statement on Friday (March 11) that six of the contractor's workers were carrying out site inspections and valve pipe repairs when the landslide occurred.
One of them was trapped in the debris and could not escape, she added.
“Following search and rescue operations, the victim's body was found and taken to Hospital Ampang for post-mortem.
“We at Air Selangor are saddened and deeply concerned about the implications of the landslide... especially for the employees of the appointed contractor who were on site to perform their duties," she added.
Elina added that Air Selangor would work with the authorities and relevant parties to help the contractor's employees involved in the incident.
The landslide at 5.54pm on Thursday left five people trapped. The sole survivor was rescued an hour later.
Fifteen houses and 10 vehicles were affected and residents in the area were advised to move to a temporary relief centre in Taman Mega Jaya.
