SHAH ALAM: The man caught on camera hitting his stepson claimed that he only did so because the child had lied.

       The suspect told the police that he hit the child because the stepson had allegedly lied that he was beaten by him.

       Deputy Shah Alam OCPD Supt Ramsay Embol, when contacted, confirmed the matter.

       "Based on our investigations, the incident started because the son of the complainant, who is his mother, lied about being beaten by his stepfather.

       "The suspect denied hitting him, lost his temper and slapped the child," he said.

       Police arrested the man early Saturday (March 12) after he surrendered himself at the Shah Alam police station.

       "While there weren't any signs of injuries, the victim has been sent to the hospital for treatment," he said.

       On Friday (March 11), a report was lodged by the mother, claiming that her new husband had beaten her five-year-old son.

       A video of the incident had also emerged on social media, which showed the suspect scolding the victim before slapping him.

       It also showed the mother trying to protect her child before being shoved to the ground while holding the boy.

       The man can be seen kicking both people before the video ends.
