ISKANDAR PUTERI: An 18-year-old has been arrested for alleged involvement in a midnight brawl at a car park in Taman Nusa Bestari here.

       Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the suspect was arrested at 12.30am on Sunday (March 13) following a tip-off from the public.

       "At 7.47pm on Sunday, police discovered a video of a group of men fighting at the car park.

       "Further checks found that the incident took place at around midnight the same day and a police report was received.

       "One suspect was arrested before the video went out.

       "Members of the public at the scene called for an ambulance to help those injured in the fight," he said in a statement on Monday (March 14).

       He added that the 18-year-old suspect suffered injuries on the head, face, back, elbows and knees.

       "Early investigations indicate that the incident was caused by a misunderstanding between the suspect and several unknown men who were drinking alcohol in a restaurant nearby," he said, adding that the suspect will be remanded until Wednesday (March 16).

       He added that about 10 people were believed to be involved.

       "The matter is still under investigation and we are identifying other suspects," he said.

       The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons.

       ACP Dzulkhairi also reminded the public not to speculate on the incident.

       The 26-second clip shows several men using a table and chairs in the fight.
