       1. ‘Mummy really is coming home’: Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe returns to her family after £393m deal with Iran

       Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe returned to the UK overnight after the Government paid off a debt of almost £400?million, in a move that paves the way for a nuclear deal with Iran.

       As the six-year detention of the British-Iranian national finally came to an end, Gabriella, her seven-year-old daughter, was told: “This time mummy really is coming home.” Read the full story.

       2. Blow for Boris Johnson as he walks away empty-handed from Middle East talks

       Boris Johnson appeared to have walked away empty-handed from talks with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates that were designed to encourage the states to produce more oil and export it to the UK.

       The Prime Minister had hoped to secure an agreement from Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Crown Prince, and Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, to ramp up exports to help wean the West off Russian oil. Read the full story.

       3. Russia and Ukraine at odds over neutrality in 15-point peace plan

       Vladimir Putin said Russia was prepared to discuss Austrian-style neutrality for Ukraine as it emerged the two countries had drawn up a 15-point peace deal that would bring a ceasefire and the withdrawal of Russian troops.

       Sergei Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, said a peace deal was close as it was reported Kyiv should undertake a constitutional commitment to become a neutral country, which would prevent it from ever joining Nato, and accept limits on the size of its army in return. Read the full story.

       4. I ate biscuits meant for the Queen’s corgis, admits former minister

       A Cabinet minister who visited the Queen the day after the verdict of the inquest into the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, accidentally ate biscuits meant for Her Majesty’s corgis, according to a new book.

       Alan Johnson, the then health secretary, revealed how he inadvertently munched on the dog food following a meal at Windsor Castle - the day after the Diana inquest returned a verdict of unlawful killing in 2008. Read the full story.

       5. Paul Pogba’s house burgled while he was playing for Manchester United against Atletico Madrid

       Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has revealed that his house was burgled while his two children were asleep in their bedroom as he played in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

       Pogba said he and his wife Zulay’s “worst nightmare” had been realised and that the break-in, which happened while United were playing Atletico Madrid at Old Trafford, had stripped them of “our sense of safety and security”.
