KUALA LUMPUR: The investigation into the murder of the 25-year-old woman whose burnt body was found at a school in Cheras is expected to be completed this week.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said the main suspect, a security guard, has been remanded until Friday (March 18).
"The murder was tragic and lacked any human decency. We expect to complete the investigation soon, within this week," said Comm Azmi.
"Once it is completed, the investigation paper will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor," he added when speaking to reporters after receiving two funeral vans from NGO Pertubuhan Amal Uncle Kentang Malaysia at the city police headquarters on Wednesday (March 16).
So far, police have recorded the statements of five individuals in connection with the case, he said.
It was reported that a security guard had been detained and remanded in connection with the murder of a woman, whose charred body was discovered in a school laboratory at Bandar Tun Razak following a fire on Saturday (March 12).
The victim worked at a bookshop at the school.
Police are waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of death.
On the donation of the vehicles, Comm Azmi said one would be situated at Cheras district police headquarters and another at Dang Wangi.
"The vans are meant for use by the local community," he said.
Thanking the NGO, Comm Azmi said those who need to use the vans only need to register at the guard post of the respective police headquarters for usage to be approved.
"We hope more such honourable and charitable acts can be done in the future," he added.
Among those who attended the event were the NGO's founder Kuan Chee Heng, also known as Uncle Kentang, and city Crime Prevention and Communication Safety Department chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Azman Ayob.
