SIBU: The body of a 43-year-old woman was found a day after she was attacked by a crocodile while fishing in Sungai Telong Suai, Batu Niah, Miri.
The Fire and Rescue Department's Batu Niah station chief Rary Binjie said the body of Demit Chagai was found by a villager at about 1.30pm on Thursday (March 17).
Her right hand was missing, he said.
"The body was found about 300m from where she was attacked and dragged into the river by a crocodile yesterday (March 16)," he added.
Eight firemen in five boats who were involved in the search and rescue operation later handed over the body to the police for further action.
In the incident, the victim was fishing by the river with her mother, 56, and aunt, 71, when the attack happened.
A distress call was made to the department, which rushed a team to the location to conduct a search and rescue operation for the victim.
