KUALA LUMPUR: Action has been taken against two security guards who allegedly denied a woman entry into the Hospital Selayang Emergency Department.
In an exchange on Twitter, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah confirmed that the hospital has taken remedial action by reprimanding the security guards involved.
"They have been told to adopt appropriate communication procedures when dealing with patients and visitors to ensure that the same thing does not occur in the future," he said when responding to a tweet about the incident on Friday (March 18) morning.
Earlier in the morning (March 18), he said the matter was being looked into after it was brought up on social media.
"We are investigating and addressing the issue as soon as possible, as per our guidelines," he said.
On Wednesday (March 16), Eliza Nathaniel said on Twitter that she was denied entry to see her father in the emergency ward of Hospital Selayang not due to Covid-19 restrictions or the number of visitors per patient, but rather her attire.
"I was deemed to be dressed inappropriately," she said, adding she was clad in a skirt just above the knee.
She claimed to have been called out on her attire, stating that with her father in the emergency she did not have time to think of her attire.
She has since said that the hospital contacted her on Friday (March 18) to apologise and said the two guards were under investigation.
