PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAS) is increasing capacity to several international routes following the gradual reopening of borders around the world.

The frequency of its flagship Kuala Lumpur-London route will be increased to 11 times weekly starting from March 27 and will return to full double daily service from July 1, the national carrier said in a statement.

The airline will also be reinstating the scheduled commercial services to India, namely New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad starting March 27 after almost two years of suspension due to border closure between the two countries.

Meanwhile, it will increase its capacity to Bangkok to 14 times from seven times weekly and to Phuket to three times weekly from once a week from April 1.

MAS has been flying to Bali once a week since March 11.

“Fully vaccinated customers travelling to Singapore can continue to enjoy the vaccinated travel lane scheme from Kuala Lumpur and Penang, providing them with ease of quarantine-free access.

“Meanwhile, the recently reinstated flights to Australia will also see an increase from five times weekly to seven times weekly to Sydney and from two times weekly to five times weekly to Perth following a steady demand for travels on the Australasia region,” it said.

With MAS’ Satellite Golden Lounge to be reopened on April 1, customers can expect the reimplementation of buffet-style serving prior to their flight. The airline’s lounges follow stringent health and safety measures with the mandatory use of face masks and disposable gloves, according to the airline.
